Dental crowns are the best method for restoring a broken tooth, or a tooth that requires a large filling but where there is not enough tooth structure remaining to adequately allow for an amalgam or composite filling. A dental crown will completely cover the tooth and prevent it from fracturing.

Dental Crowns Require Two Appointments

Dental crowns normally require two appointments. During the first appointment, Dr. Marra and Dr. Layne will prepare the tooth, make an impression of it, and place a temporary crown on it.

The impression is then sent to a dental laboratory where it is fabricated to precisely fit your tooth and into your bite.

Custom Matched and Fitted Temporary Crowns

Wearing temporary crowns have been known to be a little inconvenient or unattractive looking, but that’s not the case at Huntersville Family & Cosmetic Dentistry.

Your comfort and appearance is our number one concern. That’s why we custom match and fit the temporary crown to look as natural as possible.

It is important though not put off your follow-up appointment when your permanent crown comes back from the laboratory because temporary crowns are not designed as a permanent solution for protecting your tooth.
